Last week, Valley School celebrated a Day of Caring! This is one of our favorite Service-Learning experiences, in which Upper School students lend a helping hand to our school community and local organizations in need of a little muscle.
Our 5th through 7th-grade students spent the day working on our campus grounds, cleaning past-years' settlement sites, mulching garden beds, and raking stones and leaves. Our 8th-graders headed to the Loyalhanna Watershed's office gardens, the Country Market grounds, and the Loyalhanna Nature Trail, where they worked alongside Master Gardeners and members of the Ligonier Valley Weeders and Seeders doing seasonal upkeep and learning about local plant and insect life. Valley School's 9th-grade class returned to one of their favorite spots--Ligonier Camp & Conference Center--to sand and paint picnic tables.
We're so proud of these students and their determination to reach out their helping hands! 💚💛
