    Valley School was founded in 1946 by General R.K. and Constance Prosser Mellon.

    Valley School is in Rector, Pennsylvania, next to Linn Run State Park, and just six miles from downtown Ligonier.

    Our school day begins at 8:10 AM for all grades (k to 8) and concludes at 2:45 PM for students in grades k to 3, and at 4:00 PM for students in grades 4 to 8.

  • Transportation

    Busing is available from Ligonier, Latrobe, Derry, Greensburg, Mount Pleasant, Somerset, Jennerstown, and Johnstown.

  • Holistic Education

    Our whole-child approach to education emphasizes students’ physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and creative development.

    Our well-rounded curriculum includes math, English/language arts, social studies, hands-on science, Spanish, art, music, technology, library, and sports–all beginning in kindergarten.
