Applying to Valley School

Valley School of Ligonier enrolls new students at all grade levels on a rolling, space-available basis.  Families considering kindergarten enrollment should inquire the fall before their child enters school, while families interested in enrollment at other grade levels should contact Valley School the winter prior to entering.

The application for admission and supporting materials can be submitted through myValley, our family portal. Through myValley, families can apply for admission, submit report cards, request teacher recommendations, and check the status of their child’s application.

The following checklists will help guide you through the admissions process at Valley School. Should you have questions about this process specific to your family, please reach out to the Director of Admissions.

  • Kindergarten

Applicants for kindergarten should follow these steps:
    1. Explore options for visiting Valley School. We welcome families to join us for a weekday tour to see a “day in the life” of our students.
    2. Complete the application for admission and fee through myValley.
    3. Request a teacher recommendation through myValley no earlier than December 1. Your child’s teacher will receive an email inviting them to complete the recommendation online. You can track the progress of your child’s application in real time from the admissions checklist in myValley.
    4. Schedule a kindergarten readiness assessment and family meeting. A member of the Admissions Team will contact you by phone to schedule this visit. Visits are scheduled beginning the December before enrollment, and typically last one hour. Applicants for kindergarten complete an individual readiness assessment with the Director of Admissions while families meet with members of the Admissions Team.

We traditionally issue admission decisions in late winter/early spring, and consider later applicants on a rolling, space-available basis. If you have questions about class size or the availability of seats in kindergarten, please contact the Director of Admissions.
