Allie Arendas

“I love to be creative, and I find inspiration for new projects everywhere. Gardening, cooking, baking, quilting, and even upholstering are my favorite creative outlets. Making treats and gifts for my friends and family brings me joy. I love to encourage children to try new things and find new passions in life.”
Lower School Division Head (Grades K-4)

Allie was born and raised in Pittsburgh and moved to the Latrobe area in middle school.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from St. Vincent College in 1998 and began her teaching career in Virginia. When she returned to Pennsylvania in 2001, she was hired to teach K-6 grade computers. The excitement and engagement that her students exhibited inspired her to pursue her Master’s degree in Technology Enhanced Learning and Instructional Design at Seton Hill University. She transitioned to the central office at the Diocese of Greensburg where she trained teachers in their 17 schools to integrate technology into their classes. From there, she went to the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit to lead a new online learning consortium. It was here that she delved deep into curriculum and found a passion for collaborating with other educators from around the state. During this time, she completed her PA PK-12 Administrative Certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Allie joined Valley School of Ligonier as the Head of Lower School in 2016, after her son Nate graduated from the school. She feels honored to work with the amazing team of teachers that helped Nate to develop into an amazing young man.

Allie loves to garden, a hobby she shares with her dad. She also enjoys quilting, baking, and cooking for others. She is in her 12th year as an adjunct professor at St. Vincent College in the Graduate Department of Education and serves on the Commission for Accreditation for the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools.
