Valley School of Ligonier enrolls new students year-round on a rolling, space-available basis. The following are recommended steps in navigating the application process at Valley School.  Should you have questions about this process specific to your family, please feel free to reach out to the Director of Admissions.

Kindergarten Applicants

  • Visit
    • We encourage all families to schedule a campus tour to learn more about Valley School and how we might be a fit for your family.  To schedule your tour, please contact the Director of Admissions.
  • Apply
    • Complete the online application for admission and submit the non-refundable application fee.  For families interested in kindergarten enrollment, the application process typically begins the fall before a child begins school.
  • Request Preschool Teacher Recommendation
    • Ask your student’s current teacher to complete a recommendation on his or her behalf.  Recommendations can be requested electronically through your myValley account, or you may download a PDF version below.  (Paper recommendations should be submitted directly to the school.)  Recommendations should be requested no earlier than December 1.
  • Schedule Kindergarten Readiness Assessment and Family Meeting
    • Valley School will reach out to schedule a time for your family to meet with members of the admissions team while your student completes his or her assessment.  For families of kindergarten applicants, our family meetings and readiness assessments typically take place beginning in December/January.

A completed application file for kindergarten consists of the application for admission and fee, preschool teacher recommendation, family meeting, and readiness assessment visit.  Candidates for kindergarten admission will be notified of the admission decision by mail beginning in February.  Applications made outside of this timeline are considered on a space-available basis.
