Welcome back, students, families, and faculty! This week was the official beginning of a very special Valley School year—our 75th anniversary! As we celebrate decades of providing exceptional education for children throughout the Laurel Highlands, we are looking back at our heritage, and honoring the mission and core values upon which Valley School was founded. In 1946, General Richard King Mellon and Constance Prosser Mellon believed in whole-child education, and knew that a balanced and strong program of study would “stimulate in each young person lifelong habits of moral behavior, seeking wisdom, and doing good works for others.” Ahead of their time, they created an educational environment in service of a diverse group of children and the betterment of our future world. Today, we are proud to uphold our founders’ vision, and we look forward to an exciting Valley School future. Happy anniversary!
