WALL OF DISTINCTION HIGHLIGHTS ALUMNI'S COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CAREERS

Last summer, the Valley School Athletics department worked to design and install the Wall of Distinction near the locker rooms in the gymnasium. Coach Rohrer’s vision for the Wall of Distinction is to highlight the Valley School alumni who have gone on to play college athletics at the Division 1, 2, or 3 level. There are currently twenty-five Valley School alumni who are honored on the Wall of Distinction. Each athlete’s plaque features a photo of the alum playing their sport, high school graduation year, the name of the college or university attended, and sport(s) played. Ten different collegiate-level sports are represented on the Wall of Distinction, including baseball, basketball, crew, field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, tennis, track and field/cross country, soccer, and softball. Three athletes who are featured on the wall played two collegiate-level sports in their careers.

“We’re honored to showcase these Valley School alumni athletes through the Wall of Distinction. We hope that current Lower and Upper School students see this Wall of Distinction in the locker rooms during Sports class and their athletic competitions and encourage them to strive to play a sport at the collegiate level if that is one of their passions. We are so proud of our past, present, and future Valley School athletes. If any past alumni have played a college sport and would like to be added to the Wall of Distinction, please contact me so we can be sure to celebrate your athletic endeavors with a plaque,” comments Coach Richard Rohrer, Director of Athletics at Valley School. Coach Rohrer can be reached at rrohrer@valleyschoolofligonier.org or 724-238-5025.
