On June 20, Valley School experienced a 100-year flood—an experience has reminded us that the most inspiring moments can occur amidst the most adverse conditions.
On June 20, Valley School experienced a 100-year flood. Raging waters from Linn Run flowed into the school, effecting 11 classrooms, 3 offices, and other interior spaces. After six-weeks of diligent work, the school has been restored. The flood impacted our beautiful natural environment, too. The banks of Linn Run were severely eroded and in need of significant reconstruction. Thanks to a generous grant, the stream is being rehabilitated and improved with a stronger bank system and developed fish habits. “I'm proud to report that in response to the devastation, our community came together to better our school and campus,” stated Dr. Strecker.
